Nude for Venice Biennale

Merini posed nude, wearing only jewelry and necklaces, in an image taken at her home on the Navigli. It was the poet herself who wanted this portrait, intended as a provocation against moralism, asserting that it was not so much the nudity that caused a stir, but the fact that it was that of an elderly woman rather than a young, beautiful one.
